Jesca Donisiani Massawe is a Social Work and Community Development Professional from Tanzania whose work brings together social justice, human development, environmental sustainability and institutional leadership.
She graduated from the University of Dar es Salaam with a Bachelor of Social Work in 2023 and has developed practical experience working directly with individuals, families and communities in social welfare settings. Her practice includes case management, child protection, gender-based violence response, community development, advocacy, facilitation, research, monitoring and evaluation, and referral coordination.
Beyond direct social work practice, Jesca has developed a strong interest in addressing the broader conditions that influence people's wellbeing. Her environmental work has included youth mobilization, school-based environmental initiatives, tree nursery development, tree planting, mangrove restoration, plastic pollution advocacy and community environmental awareness. Through The Green Mind Project and her wider environmental engagement, she connects environmental sustainability with community wellbeing and social responsibility.
Her professional journey also includes institutional and youth leadership, public speaking, media engagement and participation in regional conversations on social and environmental development. She is particularly interested in creating bridges between grassroots realities and the institutions, policies and partnerships that shape people's lives.
Jesca's work continues to evolve across different sectors, but the central purpose remains consistent: to use knowledge, professional practice and collaborative leadership to help people and communities become stronger, more informed and better positioned to shape their own future.
I believe meaningful change begins with listening to people, understanding their lived realities and recognizing their capacity to participate in shaping solutions. Professional practice should not simply respond to problems; it should strengthen individuals, communities and institutions to address the systems and conditions that create vulnerability. I therefore approach my work with a commitment to dignity, participation, evidence, accountability and sustainable impact.

Catholic Youth Network for Environmental Sustainability in Africa (CYNESA Tanzania)
Directs national operations, strategic planning, and youth mobilization frameworks for faith-based climate action across Tanzania. Spearheads regional policy implementations like Laudato Si’, oversees multi-stakeholder partnerships, and represents the organization at high-level international forums and national media networks.
Bethany Land Institute (Luweero, Uganda) & CYNESA Africa
Invited as a regional delegate to present at the historic international conference themed "10 Years After Laudato Si’: Where is Africa?". Moderated high-level panel dialogues evaluating youth-led climate adaptation models and structural frameworks for integral ecology across the African continent.
Green Mind Generation Initiative
Initiated a community-led climate sustainability project designed to foster ecological awareness among youths. Coordinated large-scale tree-planting campaigns across multiple schools, established sustainable nursery infrastructure, and designed environmental modules to build long-term climate resilience.
Tanzania Local Government Workers Union (TALGWU) – Mnyagala Branch
Elected to direct branch operations, labor relations, and member welfare advocacy. Coordinates structural frameworks to enhance accountability, foster workplace collaboration, and manage dispute resolutions under the core union directive: "TALGWU Chama Imara, Huduma Bora kwa Wanachama."

Completed advanced workshop training focused on nurturing the spiritual development of children in their early years.
